Default Checking timing belt

I bought an '03 Civic LX about 6 months ago with ~86k miles on it. It now has ~93k on it. I know the timing belt is recommended to be replaced at 90k. This car came with no maintenance records. My question is what should I look for to let me know if the timing belt was already replaced by the previous owner? I'm guessing it wasn't since they sold it right before the 90k mark. I already have a private mechanic lined up to do it, I just want to make sure I need to replace it. Thanks!
