d15 to d16
so i have a 93 dx with the d15b7. it smokes like a train and goes through oil like there is no tomorro. so i was thinkin of swappin in the d16z6 out of the 92-95 EX. any major pointers here? i mean, i can handle most of the work, i've done a swap on my accord before. but how do you go about making the vtec work? this is my main concern. i know i'll need the ex ecu, but will the wiring be different? is there anything else i should look out for? any help is appreciated. thanx.

you can either wire it yourself using these instructions (virtually for free)

or you can just swap the d16z6 engine wiring harness into the car (easier, but not free)

it'll be a cleaner swap anyways... if you sell the car you won't have to explain all the ghetto rigged wiring lol

if i use the harness, wats involved with that? obviously it plugs everything in under the hood, but wats it involve under the dash? essentially, how big is this thing? lol sorry for the ignorance, just never done a swap with vtec b4....

sfffeeo9, hope you enjoyed your stay at hcf... both of your posts have been reported
to the OP, the swap will literally be a drop-in swap if you use a z6 engine harness, everything will bolt up in the stock location, and you'll literally have no wiring to do. I'd say go to a junkyard/ebay/whatever and get a wiring harness, it'll make your life easier

yea see the problem is i already got 2500 sunk in this car. it runs fine, it just burns oil like crazy. im thinkin now i just need to cut my losses, sell the car for 2500 (like i said, for the most part its a great car) and try again, rather than dumpin another grand into a car i still owe money on..... i got my eye on a 96 ex coupe at the moment

Well you should be able to pick up a z6 for somewhere around $300-$400, and the engine harness shouldn't be much more than $100 or so (no promises on the harness price, I've never really looked into buying one)
