no see he may not have vtec he could have a d16y7 but what u can do is fine a vtec head off a d16y8 swap it on your block for more horse, drop a intake + heads with stage 2 cams that will boost your car at most by 15 to 25 hp or more n swap a stage 2/3 clutch theres alot you can do to performance ur car jus takes money in time evrything happens with patients

-id say save up drop 4 a turbo about 2gran some kits go for 1800
or do a over all engine swap go DOHC

He has an EX. He has a D16Y8. We have no reason to believe it was swapped, he hasn't mentioned it.

It doesnt say vtech. Shouldn't it say it on the motor or on the outside? Cuz i thought vtech required a dual overhead cams? I have single i think...is there 2 different types of D16 engines?

there are many types of D16 engines. All the D16 motors are D16xx. I have a D16Z6. You should have a D16Y8.

VTEC exists in some SOHC Honda engines, but it isn't "true" VTEC. You only have VTEC on the intake lobes on a SOHC VTEC engine, because the spark plugs are in the way. On a DOHC VTEC both intake and exhaust lobes are changed while VTEC is engaged.

Just because it doesn't say VTEC doesn't mean anything. The only D-series SOHC VTEC engines that really said VTEC were the 94-95 D16Z6 engines.

Also, if your motor says "vtech" you should be very worried, because someone must have swapped your engine with a cordless phone.

My engine is a D16Y8. Thats what it says on the engine. unfortunatley my car is auto, but ready for a tranny swap...SOON...I know N/A seems stupid, but in the long run, the car will last longer...do any of you know how many horses im putting to the ground now with a full exaust and mishimoto intake(that's supossibly "cold air intake")?
