please be more specific, what do you mean it didn't line up with the cam? The dizzy only goes on one way, so just turn the rotor shaft until it slides in.

MAKE DAMN SURE that your motor is at TDC and the rotor is pointing towards the number one terminal

i had someone helping me and he said when the motor was at TDC that the rotor in the dizzy had to line up with the cam and a mark inside the dizzy to set the ignition timing but i cant it to line up inside the dizzy when the motor is at TDC.

Check the mark on the crank gear in relation to the arrow on the oil pump. When that is aligned, the "7 oclock" mark on the Cam Gear should be aligned with the little plastic arrow in the timing cover.

My guess is that its a tooth or so off.

ok so i got the timing all on to the cam and crank and the motor at TDC. are you saying that the screw or the fin that makes spark should be pointing toward the number 1 terminal?
