Default d16z6 vtec?

i'm getting a wrecked car with a d16z6 in it, but the valve cover doesn't say vtec on it, so does this mean it isn't the right cover or is the wrong head on it?

does it have any lettering on it? I've seen aftermarket vc's with no lettering (as well as stock vc's that had been shaved). Also, if it still is vtec, it could be a y8 head.

i sold the old head off my Z6 motor with a 96-00 valve cover without the Vtec lettering cause i wanted to keep the nicer valve cover

It is VTEC, when I bought my 92 Si hatch the sales man told me it wasnt VTEC cause it didnt say VTEC on teh cover. What an idiot, the soloniod was in plain view plus its an Si, plus its a D16Z6 engine. I didnt say anything cause i didnt want him to raise the price on me.
