Default Do i need a new engine or can an internal rod be repaired?

I have a 1996 honda civic and a oil leak. I went two weeks without checking my oil and one day while on the interstate my car just cut off. It started right back up but minutes later it cut right back off. While the car was in park I pushed the gas and I heard a knocking sound. I was told it was an internal rod knocking and the reason my car keeps cutting off is because i need some mask air flow sensors. Is there anyway i can get it fixed without getting another engine because the car still runs til this day. I havent drove it long enough to see if it still cuts off but the knocking noise is still there and gets louder the more I push on the gas. Any advice?
