my civic is racing itself! lol.....the engine is bogging and in case you dont know what i mean for the first 5 mins the car is started it races to about 3000 rpm back to zero over and over againwhile sitting still....this goes on untill the car gets going for a while.....there are a million different causes but any1 have similar problems?....how can i fix it?

 

it could be the fast idle valve.. my friend told me about it causing that more than anything... but idk where it is how how to fix it lol

 

ugh nah that wasnt it.....somebody said it culd be the fuel sytem but that seems extreme....the engine bogs and the car barely moves untill the car warms up and/or it gets going for a while....if i press on the gas and floor it, it occasionally lurches forward while the car makes a few small backfires...its getting bad...i have no idea what it could be!!! please help

 

Fuel filter lol as simple as it is it could be the source for the problems, check that. and check the timing while your at it also.

when I had my 92 it did that for while, then it started to overheat...I took it to a mechanic and he did the fuel filter and the thermostat
everything was good after that

 

i replaced the fuel filter on my car... didnt help. my car is running really rich tho and i think that might be it might want to check that to see idk.
