RE: ENGINE BUILD FINALLY DONE!
Oh, yeah... I'm trying to get under $5,000 including intake, IM, TB, header, cat and cat back[&:]
I also have cams and cam gears on the list too.
But didn't have the mounts, head gasket or head studs factored in.[:@]

Damn A/C, i gotta buy a compressor as well. How much do those bolts go for? And what about bearings? I'm assuming its gonna be a bad idea to use the old bearings since its gonna be new rods and a rebuilt motor. Or does the rod bearings come with the rods? And i forgot piston rings, $200.

RE: ENGINE BUILD FINALLY DONE!
Ok here goes. I'll throw in labor in the end, but really the labor wasn't that bad especially knowing that it was done professionally, and if something goes wrong I know where to turn.
I paid 800 for the built head. I bought it brand new from a friend that got it built at the same place that built my block. It cost him 1200 but that's including labor. I paid 800. I didn't buy the parts for it or pay the shop for the P@P so I can't break that down any further, sorry. That price included the retainers, valve springs etc. The stage II cam, and the P@P, also the cost of the head I think too.
Head studs were 110 so about $910 for the head, retail about 1300.
Pistons were 425 roughly(including rings), Rods were 390. Block guard was 90. New oil pump 115. Misc gaskets and such around 175. Stage IV clutch was 290ish. Labor was 510 for everything.
So $1,485 for the block. 1,995 w/ labor.
Accessory Items- Skunk2 Intake manifold $200(new from same friend), Walbro pump $85, Aem fuel rail $115, DSM 450 Injectors $80, Monstor Tach- $60.
So $540 in accessory items.
Fuel management and tuning- Greddy emanage $425 w/all harnesses. Wideband A/F $400. Chipped p28 ecu $185.
So $1,010 for FM.
Turbo Kit was $1,150. BOV $65, $150 in gauges but more to be purchased.
Brings us to a grand total of $5310 without labor.
I am still going to need Full 3" catback mandrel exhaust system $700, Apexi AVC-R boost controller $400, throttle body $75-$200.
Basically I think that is about all you can buy that you will need, -tranny and axle upgrades and sleeving. I didnt' think I would spend this much, but its going to be good to know it will be fully built and should last me through the years.

RE: ENGINE BUILD FINALLY DONE!
With a good build like that, youve always got to add another grand to whatever price you think youll pay. Something else always needs to be bought with cars, and something is almost always overlooked until its actually being built.

i know what you mean, my turbo kit was only sappose to be like 1400 but i ended up spending 2000 once everything was all said and done. but it was so worth it
