no, b16's are typically overrated and over priced. The red headed step child of the bunch is the F20B the older brother of the s2k motor (F20C). They are a DOHC vtec ripped out of an accord type r. They pump out like 2hp less than the H22 and can be had for a mere 2k on average including lsd tranny and ecu.

*clicky*

So Remmy you're saying go for the F20B? How much harder is that swap compared to others? Anyone else have any experiecne with an F20B? And how is horsepower compared to the B16?

about 40 more than the b16. However, it is the same methods used to do the b16 anyway. apparently from what i understand it is no different from the h22 swap.

The easiest swap will be the Y8... in and out. all you need to do is get the ecu like mxs said. However, make sure the ecu is for your transmission.

Would you reccommend getting a y8 tranny since you're already swapping your engine to a y8? And the y8 is VTEC SOHC right?

Last time I checked, both engines share the same tranny. Yes, the y8 is a sohc vtec. For the record, im not swapping anything. I have something a little more superior [8D]

lol alright man, well i gotta little y7, and its gettin up there in miles, so a swap might be just the thing i need. How much of a job is the F20B swap compared to the D16y8?

What do u got anyway? (remmy)

the d16 will obviously be cheaper, less labor involved. I dont know what an f20b swap will cost. I do know it will be about the same as an H22 swap because the same amount of work is involved. They are similar in that way.

I have a b16a2

The Y8 and Y7 transmissions are different, the Y8 is much better. 127k miles is not bad if it's been taken care of.

127 is low miles for a HOnDA .. commonly they will run over 200k easy if regular maintenance is done.. and as far as a swap its all in what you want and what your endplans are..you can do a basic rebuild on your engine and drive it along time.. or spend 600 bucks for another Y7 with 30-40k miles and drop straight in..Y8 swaps seems to be hard to find JDM.. i was looking for a few months straight.. emailing JDM shops and checking ebay.. common swaps for EK if u want power are B16A2, B18 ls/gsr either one.. cheapest being LS but non Vtec

i like remmys suggestion of the F20B swap...however i know nothing about it. im assuming its a lot like a H22 swap, because i know early F's and late H's were basically the same engine (a lot of stuff is interchangeable). however, it is not anything like an F20C (sorry to disagree remmy )

about the B16 (and all B's for that matter), theyre direct swaps minus the mounts. all you have to change is the rear mount to the rear mount from a 99/00 Si.
