The F20B is basically a H22 with a slightly smaller bore (2mm) and stroke (1mm). However, the internals are very strong in the F20B. It has high compression (11:1), so boost can be tricky, but doable. The transmissions gearing is very close on it, better than some H22s I believe. Both motors are heavy though (good for drag racing, bad for road racing) and importers have started to jack the prices up on them. That's all I can tell ya.

in reality the H isnt much heavier than say a GSR or ITR, 50 pounds probably, 100 tops. its just bulky.

I've heard Bs are 80 pounds heavier than Ds (100 for the B20) and H/Fs are 100 pounds heavier than Bs, roughly. Some may disagree, but I really do think that much weight would throw off the balance of the car.

i was under the impression that the only similarity is the block itself, and the only reason that is the same is to help with the near perfect suspension balance of the S2000 just because of where the original designs placed the engine in the chassis. idk ive never really read up on the S2000 so you might be right.

So Nail I3unny, the B series motors would be as easy to drop in as a D16y8 or y7, except you just have to change the motor mounts?

Does the '99 SI have a D16y8? and would i be able to tell a difference in horses from my y7 to the new y8? From what i can tell, the only difference from the y7 to the y8 is the TB position and the fact that its a VTEC head. Am i correct?

Just lettin you guys know im pretty sure i wanna stay in the D series, preferably a y8 althought i have noticed they are hard to find. And i WOULD swap to a B series, depending on how much more of a project that swap would be (than a D series). I know the H and F series would be good on horses, but i kind of understand the D and B series quite a bit, and just would like to stick to them. But i've learned sooooo much from this thread, thanks everyone! (BTW im not saying this thread is done, keep hittin me up with all the info you guys have been! )

no it wont be quite as easy. again, you have to get mounts, axles, the whole shebang with a B. with another D the only thing you really need to get is the engine itself because (for the most part) D series parts are interchangeable.

the 99 SI (in america) has a b16a. you need the rear mount of that car to put any B series engine into an EK.

also, differences between the two, the head (the whole thing, not just the fact that one has vtec and the other doesnt), the intake manifold, and the transmission.

Would i be able to tell a HP difference from the y7 to y8? I think thats what i'm going to do when the time comes. I knwo they are hard to find though, so if i cant find one, i'll stick with my y7. I got no problem with it

What Nail said. If you're not interested in an older D-series why not just mini me, trans swap, and boost (or not boost)? Even if you found a full Y8 swap it most likely be overpriced and in the same, possibly even worse, condition then your block (unless you happen to know for a fact yours has been abused).
