80-100 per hour seems a lil high.. but i can believe it for an engine machine shop... the cost of the machines required to do the necesary work for an engine rebuild is outrageous.. its $40,000 just for the machine to do the seats and guides in a cylinder head, and that doesnt include tooling. at our engine machine shop we charge $60 per hour and the only machine we dont have in house is a crank grinder.

damn, 40 an hour for mechanics and 60 an hour for a machinist. i need to move. most mechanics around here charge at least 75 bucks an hour. machinists are even more.
