ok, so i was checkin out ebay for parts and the such for my civic today and came across several D17A1 for $500-$700 shipped. I know there are not a ton of things that can be done to this engine, but **** you get an almost brand new engine for about $500.

So the real question is what do you think can be gotten out of this motor? I'm talking full rebuild. Port & polish, forged pistions, bigger bore, new cam, turbo... ect. ect.

I dont care if you think its a waste of time and money, i am just looking for speculations from ppl that know more a little more about engines than i do.

 

It takes a lot of money and a lot of work. 250hp is probably as much as you wanna go on a d17, the block wont hold much more because its pretty weak. The guy in the link below has a d17 with 290 hp. It lists all his mods so you know what you would have to do.
