my car has 140 hp stock. (anyone who has remembered my posts, i was originally turbo'ing my car but the guy isnt giving me as good a deal as i hoped)

so heres my mods that I have done/will be doing

-megan racing 4-2-1 header
-hp racing CAI
-Apexi WS2 catback

to be done..
-skunk2 intake manifold
-skunk2 throttle body
-port/polish
-tune

this is ALL I'll ever have done performance wise to this car... I'm just going to wait a few years and sell it and buy a nicer car eventually. Cant afford a turbo, cant afford to build it up too much, so I figured these were the most basic performance upgrades... let me know if I missed a "cheap" good hp gain for the buck upgrade.

Anyways, how much WHP should I have gained total with all of these mods? I'm hoping 20-25 to the wheels.

 

Id say betweeen 15-20 at most tothe wheels. It will all depend on how well that tune is.

 

skip the port and polish...

get more agressive cams instead,skunk2 stage1 or 2 (since your all skunk anyway), it will benefit you much more from the tune than a p&p

 

didder is right, the P&P will run you 300 at least and the TB will be around 200 at aleast. For that you can get a nice cam (skunk2 or crower makes a nice non-vtec cam). You sould save up for a vtec head OR some ITR pistons. You have a nice base to work off of and the LS makes more torque then the B18C so your set.

Can I ask you this, why not save all this money and buy a B16 or GSR head, VTEC conversion kit, and P28 ECU with crome or Hondata and get a basic LS/VTEC set up going? I know that would cost you a little more, but it will be much worth it. The head can be had for around $300 or so and the VTEC kit is about 200, plus the ecu maybe 100 and harness 50-80. Im sure you could pull a P28 and harness from a junkyard for like 100 and said and done. I dunno, just a thought.

 

For the mods you have...theyre right..skip the P&P. If you were to boost, id get one if it was in the budget just because i was talkin to riceburner and i know zilch about P&P but he said that any bolt on you put on the engine, it will show better gains. But like they said, maybe the vtec conversion and some nice cams. Make sure you get a good tune, and youll notice a difference

 

i would love to do an ls/vtec setup... only question is if i did that, what intake mani and throttle body would i buy? the ones for ls or gsr?

Yea I could get a head off ebay for like 500 ish probably and i was unaware that they made vtec conversion kits. I know theres probably a place by me that would do it for me, but would someone that has probably never done a vtec conversion know how to do it?

cuz then were talking 450 for intake mani and throttle body (combined), then maybe 1000 for all the parts for the vtec conversion then maybe 500 in labor. so when all is said and done 2000 for an ls/vtec with intake mani and throttle body and stage II skunk2 cams to go along with my h/i/e, how much power are we looking at then? its gotta be around 40 to the wheels?? (I have no clue just guessing)

 

Most of the cam companies are great but i would highly suggest a bisimoto camshaft. stage 2 can give you at east 20hp itself from what i've heard/seen. bisimoto really knows his stuff and cares about the customers carsas much as his own record breaking Honda drag cars (world record holding Honda Insight is his).

 

Just look around for a full head with all the parts to it. They can be had on eBay for 300-500 so Im sure there is one on a local forum or craigslist for less. VTEC conversion kit comes from Golden Eagle and can also be had on eBay for $200. just look for stock stuff right now to save you money, but the vtec conversion can be completed for id say about 1,000 in total if you do it yourself. I will try to dig up some info on how to's. Just know that it NEEDS to be tuned asap when your done.

 

Look around on honda-tech and do some searches for LS/VTEC and you will find detailed instructions on how to do the swap and save yourself $1000 from a shops labor that you will have to pay.
