k20 swap into 2000 civic (auto)
kinda ruined my engine driving through a puddle
so i was thinking about just replacing the engine instead of fixing it and i was thinking a k20, i dont know too much about cars or how difficult or expensive the swap might be, i do know that the engine i'm gonna buy will come with axels, tranny, ecu, mounts and some other things i forgot...can anyone provide any info please??

I take it since you don't know much about cars, you're going to have a shop do the swap? Well, from what I've read, the swap itself isn't much more difficult than a B-series swap, but it's a lot more expensive (most k-series swap packages are $4k or more by themselves). Where are you getting the engine from?
Also, what k20 are you getting? I'd recommend either a K20a2 or a K20a3, the a2 being the better engine (201hp at the crank, and if everything is pulled from the same car, it will have a 6-speed transmission *drools*)

not sure yet what kind of k20 it is,i know its vtec and the engine is currently in a 97 gsr and the guy is gonna sell me everything under the hood but(since i dont know much about cars) and i wanted to know if i was gonna need like anything additional or if everything under that gsr would be fine for my civic
is the k20 an auto or a manual?
if it's an auto, you'll need a motor mount kit and possibly new axles.
if it's a manual, you'll need motor mounts (again, I'm not sure on the axles), a clutch pedal, a brake/gas pedal assembly from a manual, a manual throttle cable, and the hydraulic lines, resevoir, and master/slave cylinders.

honestly, I'm not quite sure... if you have the time, I'd say at least try to see if it bolts on... if not, you can either call a local scrapyard or check ebay... you should be able to find an assembly for under $50.
Is he scrapping/parting out the car or what?
