Just a qwik question, what is that c/a/i looking filter that is used for oil applications? They are normally 2 inches in diameter and look just like an aftermarket air filter. What are the benifets of these things and what is their purpose?

they are to replace the hose that goes from the valvecover to the intake tube. but ive heard a couple of horror stories of the hydrogen building up instead of being sucked out by the vacuum in the intake and causing flash fires in the engine bay.

Its an Engine oil Breather, ive had them before and the Claimed increase in power isnt True but they stop oil going into the inlet manifold and cloging up the valves etc, a little bit of oil may somtimes, after extreme racing, come through the filter but it has a sort of metal foily thingy to stop it leaking too much. My 220GTi Turbo had this and it ran alot smoother.
As for hydrogenm building up...never herd that before.

its part of your emmisions system. its usually the first thing that i rip off an engine. what it dose is allow all of the oil in the blow by o recirc into your intake to reduce pollution in the env. I cant stand enviormentalists. any ways yea just rip that line out of your intake and strap a breather on and enjoy the extra 1hp
