Default mini me swap need help

i have a 97 civic LX with a d16y7 engine. i just bought a d16z6 engine with intake and exhaust manifold, also came with what i think is a y8 head with intake. i am keeping my y7 bottom end and want to know what head to use the z6 or y8? which intake to use with the head? what cam gear and timing belt will work? or anything else that will be helpful to me when i do the swap.

i keep seeing where everyone is saying to change the ecu. cant i just get a v-tec controller and do separetly so i dont have to change ecu

Either head will work but if you get picky, the y8 has about 1/2 point of compression on the z6 and has quench zones. Also the ports are different.

With either head you will need the y8 cam gear. The timing belts will be the same for either, and use the dizzy from whichever head you choose. The y8 intake manifold is a better choice.

May I ask why you dont' just swap the whole z6 in there? That's what I would do.

What are your plans for the car?

the reason in not putting the whole engine in is the person i got it from thinks it has a broke rod.

i keep seeing dizzy on things what do that mean. no i am not the smartest person. thats why i am here.

plans for the car are daily driver and just a little more power that is easy and cheap i got the complete engine and the y8 head and intake for $200

dizzy = distributor. if you have the whole engine tear that **** apart and rebuild it, then put it in your car and have one badass fast civic.

will the 92-95 engine work with obd2 it has to be inspected by the wornderful computer. is it going to lose power on the y7 block rather then z6 block and thanks for dizzy info.
so will the dizzy from the y7 work on the other heads

If you have to get it inspected, No. You have to replace with the same generation or newer. And putting the z6 head on the y7 block will actually give you a few more Hp than the z6 is rated due to the compression. I think it's ~ 9.6:1 if I remember right, whereas the z6 is only 9.2:1.
