Over a year ago, I went to get the oil changed in my '98 Civic. The guy who did the change told me my coolant was a bit low. When I got home, I checked it and it was just below the max line. My Dad asked me what I was doing and I told him about the low coolant. The next day, he said he took care of it by topping the coolant off. I looked at the bottle of coolant that he bought and it was a different color (orange?) than the coolant that was in my car (green?). Is this a bad thing? The car has run like a champ for over a year with absolutely no overheating issues and the coolant level hasn't dropped at all.

The reason I'm thinking of this now is I took my sister to get the oil changed in her car today (we were out doing things and I told her an oil change was needed so we went) and the guy told her that her coolant was really low (in fact, her coolant tank was almost empty, haha Saturns). He said to get the red (or orange, whatever) stuff. Anyways, is this anything to worry about?

 

Different colors are for different seasons usually, it doesn't really matter over the summer, come winter just be sure to put antifreeze in.
