Fom what I hear, a spark plug should be tightened only hand tight, and not torqued. Get it good enough to the point where it wont twist whith out subsatial force. I tighted a plug a little too tight with a sprocket back in the day on my chevy 350, and busted the damn plug in half.

You are going to have to pull the head. When you install a helicoil you will get metal shaving down in the cylinder. This would NOT be a good thing.

if the plug wouldnt screw in, then it prolly stripped out, i dont know y that would hapen unless it was already loose, and and it raddeled out, causing the threads to strip out, if i was you i would take it in to a shop, cause that sounds like abad thing.

get a torque wrench. your not suppose to just pop them in... as you can see.

always torque to specs, do it right the first time.....


buy a torque wrench and but a chilton and you should be pretty set

I've Never taken a head off for a helicoil thev dont caus enuf shavings to worry about unless every thousanth of a second off your time counts. when they go in they just gently run the edges of the cylinder head and when you thred the plug into the head and tighten it up it pushes the coil out and bites into the head.
