Default overheating :-(

Hey, I have a 93 EX and it keeps overheating. I've replaced the water pump, thermostat, and radiator. The car seems to run fine for about an hour and then after that it's usually about half an hour of the temperture gage fluctuating followed by overheating. When it overheats the overflow is usually boiling. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Stephen

did you put the thermostat back in right? is the lower rad hose getting hot ? did you bleed the system? did you use new coolant and not reused the old stuff (wich you shud have used new coolant). i had the same problem but it was due to my turbo leaking the coolant.

Decent amount of labor. You should take the head off and take it to a machine shop. Theyll tell ya if they can save it. If not, buy a used head online for like 150 and put a new headgasket on and bolt it up. Takes a long time if you dont know what youre doing......so paying labor for it is $.

just buy a repairmanual for you car and read it , and just take your time doing the work, making sure you label everything, and dont re-use the headbolts. and if you have any friends that kno anything about cars see if they can help you out.

Not really that expensive but yeahmy brothers car still going alittle above half so i think his motor is ****ed so we are going to sell car.... it was fine for a couple days but it keeps over heating... sooo yeah... its not really hard to un-do the head just be carefull you have to undo valve covers, intake mani, exhaust mani, just little **** LOTS OF SCREWS dont loose any =-D make sure if you do it your self you clean the coolant out of the pistons before you let it sit
so none of it seeps in just take like a rag and soak it up to. to have head re-surfaced, your lookin at about $250-300 not only that if you have cracked valves its even more money! =-\ so yeah i dont know i hope this helped

hehe funny thing is i had a very similar problem jus 2 days ago but it was due to the thermostat that needed replacing which was done today but get this: went to honda specialist garage to find out how much new thermostat and labour would cost and they quoted me £100 for it! can you believe that! jus to change the thermostat which was only a couple of bolts and all you had to do was make sure the thermostat was inserted properly...

Lucky friend was there to tell me that it was a simple job and all i had to do was buy the new thermostat and he showed me how to put it on. Now that i know this il make sure to do my research first before i go ahead and pay someone else to do the job, jus that you know the feeling when something goes wrong with your car you jus want it fixed as soon as possible without the car running into more problems and very anxious to get it done :P

Thankfully you guys are here to give a helping hand with advice and such and to be honest i would be lost without all of you here so i thank you all ^_^

Those 'just a couple of bolts' are a major PITA to get to, hence the high cost of labour.

Good on ya for learning how to do it yourself though.
