Prepping a B16A2
My friend asked me today, what he could do to improve a completly stock B16A2 to make it more turob friendly. He has limited funds, around $750, so what should I tell him?

RE: Prepping a B16A2
I would maybe look into upping the displacement to 1.7 or 1.8 too.

RE: Prepping a B16A2
If he really wants to turbo the B16A2, he should put a thicker head gasket on it to lower the compression ratio.

RE: Prepping a B16A2
how much can u bore a b16? .30 im guessin?

RE: Prepping a B16A2
To lower the CR, I would recommend using GSR pistons (USDM P72-A0 = ~9:1; JDM P72-00 = ~9.5:1) or USDM ITR pistons (P73-A0 = ~9.75:1).

RE: Prepping a B16A2
I guess what he's really worried about is having to beef up the engine, stuff like camshafts and cam gears. If he doesnt have to, he doesnt want to spend the money right away.

RE: Prepping a B16A2
if he means stuff like that, i would just do a type r exhaust cam, exhaust, and a high flow cat. hopefully under 750. shop around, a used exhaust would be a good find.

RE: Prepping a B16A2
i dont want to say ne thing against sacicons cuz hes the man, but my friend had type r cams in his civ before he put his turbo in, but when he actually did, he took em out and put the stock ones back in.. or otherones i forget. but why would u pick the type r cam sacs?

You can get by running about 7 or 8 psi on stock.
