starts to stall in 1st and 2nd gear
hi. i have an 1989 honda civic base model d15b1 i beleive. just yesterday i started have this problem an i thought it ws just running out of gas. so i filled up but it didnt happen after that. and today i found out why it was doing that. i put it in first start to gas release clutch slowly. did it again. it only does it when i try to start off slow with little bit of giving it gas. i have to rev it up to get it not to do that. and it also does that in second gear aswell. any ideas?
Is the LED of the ECU (under carpet below dash on front passenger side) blinking a code? See 88 Civic manual in link in my signature.
I recommend that you check the EACV and adjust the idle speed.

i dont think i have an led under there. im thinking it might be a sparkplug or the wires? when i pres the gas quickly it makes a noise thats sound like its starting to stall. even when im in neutral and i rev the engine it makes the noise but dont stall. but if im in gear an it does it it stalls but sometimes i catch it before it does. its very enbarressing to stall in the street. makes me look like a noob moron driving a stick.
Definitely would not hurt to do a basic tune up (plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor, fuel filter), if one has not been done for a while. Afterwards, check the EACV and idle speed settings, if necessary.
