I called my local swap shop and they qouted me on a B16a swap for $3,500. Including motor. They said that in order to get a H22 that I will have to ditch the A/C... I was like f' that. But does that sound fair enough? or is it too pricey? They also said it would be a good idea to throw in a new water pump once its on.

Well u shuld figure about 2500 for the engine (complete.. axles ne everything) and about 1000 for the work.. sometimes u can find a shop around 800.. but 1000 is pretty much standard. And **** the a/c take out ure powersteering too.

 

I'd say you're getting reamed. You can get a full swap for ~$1,500... then if you figure $1,000 or less for the actual work... well, you do the math.

 

I have A/C on my h22.... The previous owner got a shop in florida to custom make a bracket. Everyone who sees it goes friggen nuts. I also got a shop down here to get me a JDM h22 for 1300 with warrenty. Ive heard that acura motormounts work well with civic/h22 swaps. After that and general things, the only thing you will need is some heavy duty axle's.

 

yeah, you can find mounts for the stock ac pump to work on an h22. even if you dont get motors at wholesale like Kappa then you should be able to find a better deal than that. i'd say NO more than 3200 installed. and maybe an extra buck-buck fifty for a t-belt and water pump while its out.

 

Just a word about the water pump. I took my car into a mechanic shop to get some problems diagnosed, and he put in an aftermarket water-pump while I had the engine open ( I think he put in an o-reilly pump?). I brought it back because of a rubbing noise coming from the bottom of the engine. Turns out the timing belt was actually rubbing against the pump (took it out to let me see, one part was nice and shiny and buffed). Needless to say we had to go back to the stock pump.
