Default timing issue?

well my distributor went out, brought car to nerest mechanic to get up and running. i got a new dizzy and new pluggs. Engine is d16y8. Car runs kinda bad, he said i might need more adjustment on the timing, seems to have lost power in all gears. Are dizzy and pluggs same in all d series? could i have the wrong parts? anyone can walk me through timing adjustment? dont really wanna bring it back to this guy he was kinda dumb, there arent any honda specialists in my area, any ideas on what my problem is? thanks, Jason
