Default what are my options...

well my friend has a 92 hatch. he's fed up with what he has under the hood. so i was wondering, what can he do to his car? a swap? if so, which one? i'm posting for him since he can't at this moment. i'm not familiar with honda engine codes, so bare with me. i believe he has the b18 single cam??? not sure.

B18C1 (if he wants to boost later) or B18C5 (if he wants to stay N/A) would be a good choice.

Well, it's definitely not a B18 single cam. It's gonna be a 1.6 liter single cam (if it's stock) a.k.a a D16. The B18C1 is a great motor even if you dont' want to boost it. 170 or 180 Hp for about $2600. The C5 is the bomb but it'll cost ya. 200+ Hp for ~$4K. The B16 is a "drop-in" swap. 160 for $1200-1500.

As usual, it all depends on the power goals and the size of the bankroll.

Consider this though, depending on what shape his motor is in, you could boost it and get the 160Hp or better for around the same price of the B16 swap. You will get varying opinions on the subject, but either way would be awesome.

If you want boost, the B18A series is great due to it's lower compression.
