I just bought an '03 Civic LX coupe(stock w/ 5 speed) a couple weeks ago and I was expecting the car to get about 40 mpg on the highway. I drove the car to Tahoe and back(mountain roads). Most of the trip was on the high was going 65mph, with some downhill coasting and city driving. I got 505 miles on about 10.3 gallons(49 mpg).

Now with highway commuting I still seem to be getting about 45 mpg.

Has anyone else experienced numbers like this?

My car is a 4 door with a 5 speed in it and i get on average about 35 in the city and closer to 39-40ish on the highway. I haven't tried going 65 but i know in my car it drops the rpms by almost 300 when i slow it down from 70-65. The only thing that may be holding me back is that i have a big heavy dual ported sub box in the back of my trunk, otherwise it's pretty much stock weight.
