Default I am considering buying a 1998 Honda Civic HX

I am planning on test driving the car, then if it drives well take to have a diagnostic.I've heard some horror stories of transmission problems with this year of a car & with in 100.000 miles ,this car has 115.000 mile.

Is it a good purchase ? Help,my daughters car is unsafe to drive and not lots of $

Is it a manual transmission? I'm not sure where you heard that but Consumer Reports shows that year (1998) as having excellent transmission reliability. My 97 has over 125,000 miles on it and there have been zero issues with the manual tranny (or anything else for that matter). If it has an auto tranny, the important thing is that the fluid was changed every 3 years or less than 30,000 miles.
Also, you might consider getting her an AAA roadside assistance plan.

Good luck!
