The factory NGK plugs are perfectly fine. There is really no performance gain on a stock engine when using iridium or double platinum high end plugs.

iridium plugs especially denso use a smaller center electrodes that produces a better spark with alot less electricity. you won't see any real horse power gains but you will decrease the electric load on the alternator slightly increasing fuel economy.but they are expensive and only last around 30,000 miles. if you decide to go iridium i suggests you get the long life versions. http://www.densoaftermarket.com/iridium-long-life.php by the way only use either DENSO or NGK spark plugs in hondas nothing else platinum only increases the life of the plug not performance.

What is the factory NGK plug number? Also, what should it be gapped at?

Thanks

I just installed 4 NGK Iridium Ix Spark Plug (ZFR6FIX-11) into my 2005 Honda Civic LX. My boyfriend's uncle installed them. He works at advance auto parts and he called there to double check what the gap needed to be. I believe I heard him say the gap is for our civic's is supposed to be at 0.044. He used a tool to double check that the gap was correct. I forget what the tool was called.

Well, the difference that u notice after changing your spark plugs to iridium ones is mainly simply caused by replacing your spark plugs. I spoke to some mechanics and other forum's members, but actually everyone said, what you feel is just the feeling of new spark plugs, no matter iridium or not.
But iridium lasts longer

NGK all they way. Also, platinum and iridium plugs are not worth it. Good old copper core is best for performance and economy. The others last a little longer but thats it.
