"what have you done to your civic today?"
I did the DIY black housing headlight mod, and got rid of those ugly eyelids!

And yes, I know I'm missing one of my foglight housings; I've got a new set on the way!
EDIT: Also, the fugly hood will be replaced with an OEM carbon fiber hood (VIS,) by the end of the month! If anyone wants this hood, I'll let it go CHEAP. Or, if anyone will trade me for a OEM CF hood (don't care what condition it's in,) I'll put a decent amount of money on top, even though I highly doubt anyone will.

Wednesday had a new Master Cylinder installed. While I was at the shop, the mechanic said he had some used tires & wheels that came off a wrecked Civic. So he put them on so I could see how they looked & I went ahead & bought 'em. Kumho's & MSR's... I haven't cleaned or siliconed them yet, but you get the idea.
Now I need to pull off the rear drum brake cover & spray it gloss black...

You cannot use stock lug nuts on aftermarket rims. The stock rims have an ball lug seat, and the aftermarket rims have a tapered lug seat. Tightening down ball seat lugs on tapered lug seats ruins the seats.
here is the difference:
the reason the ball seated lugs ruin tapered lug seated rims is because the ball seats are bigger in some places than the tapered seat, and the part that is bigger will grind into the metal on the tapered seat.
since the tapered lugs don't bulge out, they theoretically can't ruin the metal because they aren't sticking out enough to grind into it. Though, this is all assuming that the lug nuts are the same diameter on the tip of the threaded end.
ya i wouldnt think that it would effect the steelies... i have seen a bit of metal area looking torn up but nothing serious... its just metal i figure when i get some stock lug nuts they will just eat into the steelies back to stock... im trying to find some stockers but dont want to pay that new lug price.... eventually ill put the hubcaps back on it. but my 99 hubcaps are scratched up and some cracks so i gottta fix them first.
follow up post... Used the Mcguiars claybar kit and all I can say is WOW! when it comes to stuff like that I am very doubtful until I try it and I can say that it took me about 4 hours with a clean, wash, claybar, and final wax but it is well worth it. You can set your credit card on the car and let go and it will float its way off... nothing smooth will sit on the car after you do this and the shine is freaking amazing! I have a black car and it nailed my swirl marks that were on it before I even owned it! ITS INSANE! Highly recommend!
