I'm pretty sure it covers the motor in the event the belt fails prematurely.

Dang! Nice warranty! I will definitely look into the Dayco kit.

I haven't looked at the Chilton's manual yet (was busy piling on another 800 miles this past weekend), but the works sounds and looks straight forward based on the looks of the engine bay and feedback from you guys.

Also, I'm glad to hear the feedback on the NGK plugs. NGK is the ONLY plug I run in all my other cars. TR55, to be exact! NGK makes an outstanding plug!

How imperative is it that the valves get adjusted? I looked in the owner's manual and the recommendation is "as necessary" at 105K.

thats about right. If the valves are ticking or anything then I'd definatly adjust 'em. But if the motor is nice and quiet and smooth than I'd think you shouldn't have to. I would still reccomend at least checking them though so you will leave no stone unturned and you will be confident that you will have no problems down the road. Besides after all that work you dont want to have to be back in the motor in another 10,000 miles to adjust the valves when you could have done it while you were there already. It only takes maybe 1/2 hour from removal of the valve cover to reinstallation.

OK. I'll check them, but everything on that motor is very quiet.

Does a new valve cover gasket need to be used when the valve cover is reinstalled?

Recomended but not required. Be sure to apply a dab of RTV silicon to the corners of the gasket prior to re-installation.
