110,000 Mile maintenance costs
hi all,
I am planning to do the following replacements on my 1998 LX hitting 110K, but bit concerned about parts and labor cost, a guy who works for Toyota dealer is doing this at his house garage on a weekend -$600 all included. Is that fair price?
Honda civic crankshaft sensor
Honda Civic Camshaft Position Sensor
honda civic water pump
honda civic timing belt
honda civic AC belt
honda civic power steering belt
honda civic alternator belt
honda civic thermostat ( not sure what exactly here )
honda civic brake light switch
Changing Coolant
Transmission fluid ( not sure )
Any comments, suggestions appreciated. TIA.

Is all that stuff bad? Other than timing belt, trans service, if neither has been done then I say those are important. The rest fan belts. Are they cracked? The rest I have no idea why I would change them unless they were defective.
I agree, specially sensors?
why replace sensors that are working.
I would think water pump, timing belt, and tranny fluid flush would be the only ones out of those that would need to be done.
IMO, i think someones trying to make some money...

The timing belt, water pump, and fluids flush alone would run you $600 at the dealership, seems fair to me.
DaOne/90 Civic, the "aint broke, don't fix it" mentality should almost never apply to high mileage vehicles. If the manual recommends that something be replaced, I highly recommend that you replace it.
Cars don't reach 200k+ miles on hopes and dreams. They need love and attention.

Thanks for feedback. Not all of that is bad, he took a look at it and says it's cracked or close to being cracked. The guys seems honest and says dealers would charge $1000 for this.
I lived in Kansas for 7 years and now in Texasfor 5. So following normal schedule I plan to do everything that needs to be done for 120K miles. I followed maintenance schedule upto 80K and the lost track, I guess nothing was done except 5000 mile oil changes after that. Recently replaced front brake pads and broken CV axle - those two cost me $500 - I guess I was ripped off.
Like Forty04 thinks I am worried as it's 110k and not worth the pain later - if this seems reasonable as well I will go ahead and get these done. I truly love my civic - 13th year now - I keep telling my wife that civic came first before she did in my life - j/k.
Any more suggestions/comments.

I dont see the point in replacing the crankshaft sensor and the Camshaft Position Sensor.
Since when did they add those to scheduled maintenance?
When i worked at the honda dealer we never replaced those as part of the scheduled maintenance.

Like 40 said, on a higher mileage car preventative maintenance is a good thing. $600 (that includes him buying parts, right?) is not a bad price for all of that.
My 93 only has 280k.
