If you read the entire thread you would notice that we came back to help later in the thread.

And yea, you're suppose to use distilled water like you said. I used the garden hose, but then again the well water we use is pretty damn clean so i wasn't worried about it.

I read the whole thread (duh...). Remember what they say about first impressions... not to mention, the first guy was different as well. You at least provided the right answer, so don't too twisted up over my comment.

Tap water, garden hose, distilled water - it all depends on what you have. All I know is the water sucks so bad in West Texas that I won't put it in my car. Plus, I've seen way more import engines suffer from electrolysis than domestic engines because of high mineral content in the coolant. You're lucky you have that nice, clean well water to work with.

If it weren't probably a banning offense, I'd recommend he check out another forum for help with his '92-95'-specific questions.

Why?

Anyway, FRZ, after looking at the pictures a second time, I can tell that it's been in a front end collision (i don't know if you said this or not because i don't feel like rereading the whole thread). The passenger headlight brackets are busted and the metal platform in front of the radiator is bent.
The collision possibly busted the radiator and the previous owner neglected it and the engine overheated and warped the head. As a solution the previous owner decided to swap in a D16Y7 head.

This is the most likely scenario for why the car is the way it is.

Let's just say that I found the forums I'm thinking of a bit more 'user-friendly' for n00bs who are actually trying to solve their issues.

There's a lot of 'Rice-Boy' mistaken-identity cases when it's open-season on n00bs here. Don't get me wrong, I tire of the countless "I'll bet if I boost my mom's Civic I could smoke a Cobra" dumb-*** posts just like anybody else does. But beating up people for valid questions gets old, too.

Hey - I still come back now and then... which means this place doesn't suck or anything.

And you're probably right about the front-end scenario. Too common to see someone have some damage, slap on a band-aid, and try to get out from under it in a hurry.

I'm not sure if you are talking about the coolant flush or refill here. Obviously, a distilled water flush would not be feasible. If you are talking about the refill, just purchase premixed 50:50 coolant:water and you should be good to go without having to worry about the quality of your local water.

Have you had your well water tested for mineral content? Well water is packed with high minerals in many areas. Just use the 50:50 Premix coolant. Regarding the flush with well water, this poses more difficult solutions if the well water has a high mineral content.

I agree, there was too much unnecessary harassment of the OP.

Are you really worried about getting banned? Be more bold and speak your mind.

Not in the least. But I've been around various forums for over 10 years now, and I know how touchy some owners get when other places are seen as some kind of competition. I'm not sayin'... I'm just sayin'...

It ain't no thing. I'm not trying to bash this site in the least, either - I've received plenty of quality help from folks here in the past. Nothing to see here... move along.

We are not the owners. We are members like you, so just speak your mind when you have something to say that isn't meant to harass or flame. I think HCF is an outstanding forum, but you don't have to worry about insulting me and most other mature members if you don't agree.

Hey, guys thanks for all the comments. Like many have said in previous posts, this car won't be all patched up soon so I am taking as a work in progress that hopefully I can handle it. I changed the radiator cap. The sealing rubber inside was chipped. I am sure that will reduce the lost on coolant. I drove it and its ok for now. I think the coolant is getting mix with oil in the engine though. There is oil stain in the coolant reservoir and and the exhaust is giving out white smoke. Yes, the car has obviously been in a car accident, the hood is dented in the front like as if it was bent purposely to make it fit on the uneven lower part. Beside that the rest of the body on the car is decent. Lots of problems I know but, I just feel that the major things, well, everything can be repaired. As long as I know what they are.

Oil in the coolant suggests a blown head gasket. However, if the engine has severely overheated in the past, you may need to replace the entire engine (easiest and safest course of action).

That is what I am thinking. I think I will start looking for the prices to see where and how I can get this, maybe a tranny too.
