Default 1998 CX Hatch is it a good deal?

Hi there, locally there is a 98 CX Hatch auto with ac and 120k. Have paperwork on timing belt and waterpump change. Car is in almost new condition. Seller is aksing $4900. What does everyone think and also what kind of real work mileage do these get on the highway.

Thank you
James H

well check the blue book value.... www.kbb.com
and also get the vin number and run a CARFAX report on it to ensure its milage from rollback and any wrecks that where reported to the police..... good stuff to know....

Pictures added to above post. I know KBB says it should be about $1000 to $1500 lower in price. I figure the work done is good for $600 that I would not have to do. I was really looking for an older VX as I drive 1000miles per week but hear the CX can get 40 on highway.

Thank you

ya looks pretty clean... most people will drop on the price a bit... worth a shot...
but hatchbacks are alittle hard to find, but then again it is a automatic and looks completly stock...

i guess just depends how bad ya want it

I'd say 4900 it's a little too much, the fact that it is very clean is a plus but it is also 10 years old and has 120k miles, which isnt too bad. I would personally try to lower that price to around 3500 - 3800. Also you should be looking for rust spots and like someone above said, see if you can get a carfax report on it.

Carfax is clean and shows one owner from same town it listed in. Car is in TN near Knoxville so rust should not be a problem, I am checking it out Thursday and seller is pretty set on price, I am trying for $4500 but well see. It is higher than KBB but looks like pretty average price compared to autotrader and even ebay. Like the one guy said it just depends on how much I want it so well see after the inspection.

Thanks
James

ya check it out real good.
but ya the price always is how much the seller wants to get from it.LOL

my 94ex books like 2900 but ive got it listed for 3500. thats the price it will take for me to let go of it... im very firm on price and let it be known when people ask about it......
but then again i have alot of work into my car personaly.
