3rd Door to hatchback doesnt close

Post 3rd Door to hatchback doesnt close

how could i fix my hatch lock? it just doesnt close. It'll try to, but now it just pops back out. It used to shut if you slammed it, now it doesnt no matter what.

take a picture of the latch, it may be closed. if not just replace the latch they are cheap and easy. (just the way i like it lol)

well first thing to try is just bust out the wd 40 and use a screw driver to close the latch and pull the open handle over and over....
if lubing up the latches doesnt work then pull the inside panel off and inspect the linkages from the latches to the handle... if the handle linkages are sticking as well that would keep the latches from latching.

typically latches dont need replaced only lubed up really good. its always a good idea to go ahead and pull the trim panel off anyways just to lube everything up nicely. the tailgate part has 2 latches so those typically will close with at least one latch, maybe yours has had one side stuck for awhile and now the other one is sticking open.
