Just new here, and I don't even have a Civic yet...because I haven't made up my mind whether to get a 95 or 96-97. Wikipedia says the 6th generation received "updated styling," but I'm not sure aside from the front & back what the difference is. According to the specs the dimensions are different (even the height and width), so it ought to show somewhere... Talking about the coupe here, as far as the basic body shape sometimes I would swear they are identical...other times not but if not, whatever it is that's different I can't put my finger on. I wish I had someone who could explain it for me, and I thought what better place than here to find them!

 

On the following pics, factory options like spoiler and chrome muffler tip are because of the submodel. All of the following Civics have these options available from the factory, but it depends what submodel (EX, DX, LX, etc.) the car is as to what extra options are on it. Also, 99-00 EX Civics have tail lights that are only white/red, as opposed to white/amber/red like the rest of them. Also, these pics are all coupes and are stock.

The main minor differences between 96-98 and 99-00 in the interior are the dashboard's radio bezel is different, and on the outside the front bumper is different. The headlights, fenders, hood, and upper grille are also shaped a little differently, if you look really closely.
