theres more than a couple things it could be. first off, hows the car running? roughly? smoothly? a tune up can always help. if the tune up fixes it, great. if not, odds are it needed a tune up anyway, so the money wasnt wasted. check your usual parking place for signs of a petrol leak. look under the hood, any signs of leakage around the fuel filter canister? im unfamiliar with the fuel system on a dpfi car (after the filter canister), so maybe someone else can help you with places to look.

yeah it did have a fuel leak under the back seat where it had to be cut out. it smells of gas but no visable leak. and how much would a tune up be in canadian$???

dpfi and mpfi have the exact same fuel system, just dpfi only has 2 injectors and no fuel rail.

thats the problem, that rubber hose isnt designed to hold the high fuel pressure.

+1 Don't try to patch the fuel supply lines. The pressure will blow ordinary rubber fuel line hose, which is for carburetor systems that are basically gravity flow or a small pump-- not 40 or 50 psi. There is special high pressure fuel injection rubber hose but it should only be used to replace OEM rubber hose (which mice love to eat for some reason), not clamped onto old lines under the car.

Fuel leaks are serious business. When there's a traffic jam because of a car on fire it's often because the owner ignored it "smelling of gas from time to time."
