94 Lx tranny swap

Default 94 Lx tranny swap

my girlfriend has a 94 civic lx and her tranny is about done... i have a 94 DX and was wondering if the trannys are the same? so we can swap them out thanks

Yep Lx and Dx tranys are excatly the same. Same gear ratios and final drive. The Ex and Hx tranys have different gearing. The Hx is the same gearing as the Lx/Dx trans but have a taller final drive. The Ex has shorter gearing for better acceleration. They all will bolt up to the D16y blocks, all of them(y5 y7 y8).

Only problem with changing to one with different gearing, the check engine light might come on with a speed sensor code. You would fix that by also swapping the ECU to one that matches the new transmission.
