98 Civic LX keyless remote not working
I bought 98 civic lx around 8-9 months back. It came without keyless remote. I bought one remote from ebay and tried to reprogram but no success.
Here is what happened. I put ignition in II position and then pressed/hold valet switch. After 5-10 second, radio switched off and then on and my car got locked. Now with still holding valet switch I pressed lock/unlock button on my remote. But nothing happened.
I also tried with ignition switch method, turning to II position and I position for 4 times and every time in between pressing lock/unlock button on remote, still nothing happened.
What could be the reason? I am using new battery in remote. The small red LED light on my remote is constant on. Do you thing remote is faulty or something problem might be there?

Hi
If your car responds to programming instructions but the remote does not respond, it is most likely one of the following reasons
1. The battery may be dead.
2. Try the instructions again - sometimes it takes more then one try
3. If it still does not work, the remote might be broken or you have a wrong remote.
If your car DOES NOT respond to programming
1. It may not be equipped with keyless entry system - please check with your local dealer
2. There might be a problem with your RKE module please check with your local dealer
3. You may have the wrong set of programming instructions please check with your local dealer
