hey I saw a previous post on this, some guy that had an 08 civic with bad am reception. I'm experiencing the same problem, and since all of my conservative friends (schmitt, beck, limbaugh) are on the AM I'd really like to get better reception.

before anyone says that it has bad reception, I understand, but it's not supposed to be this bad, my dad's truck receives it just fine...

On a side note, it seems when I'm listening to the AM, my RPMs get broadcasted through my speakers!!! it's really wierd but I can hear my car reving up through the speakers and it overtakes whoever's talking, to where I can only hear my RPMs and not the show.

So ya, I believe something in the civics are making it impossible to listen to the AM radio

Is your ignition system stock? Aftermarket "performance" parts don't have the radio noise suppresion features.

Also check that the screws holding the antenna to the roof are tight. If your car is old, the antenna may be bad.

 

Can be the way that it was hooked up if the stereo system is not stock. Any amps or anything.

 

as far as I know it's a completly stock system. I bought it from the dealer and they didn't mention any aftermarkets... didn't even tell me it was a vtec (pleasant surprise). it's an 02 so it's not really that old... anything else?
