anyone race a corba?
RB,
I'll admit to having a bit of a lead foot when 'test driving', but I do it in remote areas where I know traffic is minimal or non-existent. And when I do race (wheel to wheel or timed events), it's on a road course separated from normal traffic.
So where can you go 160 mph? It's called the Silver State Classic- it's a 90 mile timed run on highway 318 in Nevada and runs a couple of time a year. There are different classes of speed, from 95 mph touring up to the Unlimited (180+ mph) class. Not cheap to run in ($495-780), but where else can you run *****-out and not get arrested and get your car impounded? They even have a new event called the 'High Noon Shootout', which is a one mile long acceleration run for $200. This is legal road racing, sanctioned by the NHP.

That's awsome. Is it a one run and your through kinda thing or can you do it as much as you want all day?
The 90 mile run and the 1 mile acceleration run are one-run deals. I think the purpose of the 1 mile run (held Fri, Sat.)is to test your car for the 90 mile run (held Sunday). There are alot of racers that weekend, so allowing the competitors to run more than once would be impossible timewise.

Here in Illinois, we have a place called "Cordova", and its mainly drags and other events. Like SPL (Sound Pressure Level) competitions, which is fun. And some events called "High School Night" where only high school students can drag and race. Its pretty fun.

I also remember Road & Track ran an article in '89 about how a guy with a Ferrari TestaRossa killed his wife when he exceeded the speed rating of his tires and lost control of the car when the tires grenaded at around 170.
Test driving is one thing - racing's another, since it's a whole lot more distracting.

The last time I had a conversation with you, you hadn't even driven that car yet. Which is it? Have you been driving it and beating these Evo 9's and STi's, or have you not driven the car you bought and not built?
Highway, sidestreets, it doesn't matter. Street racing claims lives no matter where you do it.

Im with Forty... I dont know you but I dont believe you for some reason. 460ish hp to the wheels is a monster of a civic and you dont seem like you know enough to stay alive in a car like that.
On-Topic... people with Cobras who "race" keep their cars far from stock. The 2003-2004 Cobras come supercharged and with a few simple bolt-ons and a tune they are cracking 500hp to the wheels like nothing, most are closer to 700. Anything above that is lost with traction problems. So if you get a cobra driver to actually race you you'll probably get walked, especially from a highway roll.
The average modded, daily-driven Cobra is in the high 10's to low 11's.
