Default A Bad engine and $3000 hmmm what to do

So the morning after July 4th my babysucked up some water, not enough to hydrolock but enough to cause a need for new piston rings and a head rebuild. Long story short after all the bs Im getting a check for 3 grand from insurance. The thing is the bankI have the car loan withmight not cash
it till the car is running. I'll know this for sure by next wednesday. So these are my plans, I'll make a project page once im positive of what I'm doing.

If the bank cashes the check without any riffraff my plan is to scoop up a b20 and swap it in. Then get the head off my b16rebuiltand possibly a little more. Tap that sucker onto the b20 when its ready and boom I got myself a torque nasty b20vtec. Also Ill have some cash left over.

If the bank is a beotch then my cousin has a b18a1 with about 132k on it he says he'll help me swap in and I can pay him later. Then I'd make myself a LS/vtec with my b16 head onceI get all the money. This way I'd have a good chunk of change left over and probably end up getting I/H/E for it also and probably some new tires.

Any other suggestions?

I would honestly save another grand and buy a B18C5(JDM Type R B18C) then put a supercharger on it later down the road. Or just a GSR swap and swap the head and intake manifold for a B16 head and intake manifold. A ls/vtec and cr/vtec require pretty much a full rebuild with key componets to be worth doing it. Or really for the $3000 you could do a B20 with a GSR trans and a JRSC. All the things I am suggesting are not out of this world power makers but they will be very fun on the street and very reliable. Honestly a B18B with a set of cams, a GSR trans, and a JRSC would be fun and get you deep into the 13's.

Wow I never even though about a JRSC. Thats a great idea. A b20 with a JRSC would be nasty. Id be able to sell my whole b16 also once i get it out for a little extra cash or just save it for a future project.

yeah, i would just buy a new gsr, then use your b16 head, and then rebuild your old motor with the leftover parts and possibly sell to get your money back.

yeah the b20 vtec would be a good idea fank the head of your b16 but then you gotta find parts to fit everything again id jus rebuild your b16 and buy a jdm type r head for it and get internals to then you can turbo it and have some real fun
