Default Buying first Civic

Hey everybody, I'm looking to buy a '92-'95 civic hatchback. I'm looking to get the Si or one with a b16a in it. My dad keeps telling me not to buy one that old because of rust and more wear and the like. I would only buy one with no rust plus, if I were to get one, regardless of colour, I'd get a new paint job and body work done if needed. He just keeps telling me no and its starting to **** me off, lol. Should I take what he say into consideration? mind you i only have about 5500 to spend...
Thanks alot

5500 is alot when buying a civic. Go to autotrader.com and look for what you want. I am in the midst of getting a civic too. And that is where I am looking, to find my first car.

I'm not gonna pay more than 4500. but is rust an issue with a car that has "no rust"?

Usually theres always rust by the tires, but it you take care of that, the rest of the car should be fine. Just make sure you inspect it really good. (even under the car)

around here (alabama) you could get a 96-2000 hatch with decent mileage with 5500 to spend. i've got a budget of 3k and i can find all kinds of nice 92-95s... but we don't have snow here so we don't have to worry about rust either... at the same time, if your dad wants to get you something newer, you can always tell him that if he really wants you to get something new that he can help you out with money...
