Car battery issues
So, I had to put a new battery in my car on Sunday. Everything went well, thankfully. I have one problem. My CD player/radio now do not work. I know that on some vehicles if you install a new battery you have to 'teach' the computer how to do some basic things. Thankfully, the only issue I have is cd/radio. The cd/radio I have is stock on my 2000 Civic EX. I get an error on my LCD and it asks for a code. I realize that the fix is probably in the Civic handbook that comes with the car...but my car didn't come with the book! I bought it used and the previous owner had lost the manual.
Is there a generic code that I punch in to get everything working again? Is this a huge problem that I can't fix? What steps to I take in order to get my CD player/radio working again? It's awful quiet in my car without them. It's driving me bonkers.
Thanks in advance. You have an awesome forum. Think I may stick around and see what's going on here.
Please, for the love of God, tell me I don't have to take the thing in just so they can punch 4 numbers in and set everything right.

RE: Car battery issues
sorry no way to genaric code it....
you need to i believe pull the radio and take your registration to a honda dealership and pay them some money to unlock the radio and this time right down that code... best thing to do is call your local honda dealership and talk to them what you need to do and how much they charge to unlock it.
very typicaly....
or if you want a new/beter radio.... tell your parents or wife or who ever and tell them you need to upgrade cause ethe stock radio is messed up. LOL its a preaty good excuse to upgrade

RE: Car battery issues
My local dealer NEVER charge me a dime to give me the "code" But if you don't want to un-lock it up grade to a better head unit Bro.
I don't go to my local dealer for the code because they make you go on person and they won't give it to you on the phone either.
Here called this dealer in Virginia they might give you the code onthe phone but you have to provide them a serial number under the stereo to get the code
