I would get an aftermarket one, my girlfriend's 99 has an oem cd player and it takes it like 5-7 minutes to read burnt cds and once it does you cant skip tracks or it starts all over again trying to read them.

might just need cleaning, not sure, but i dont know how to do it. better safe than sorry.

well i really didnt wanna fool with it much, she just wanted to put a cd player in it, so i figured id just put a factory cd player in it, cause i'd have to buy an aftermarket cd player, and a conversion harness, and a aftermarket cd player tray so the cd player will fit in the slot. im to lazy/cheap to work on her stuff lol.

Default it's easy

it is an easy swap. you can find factory cd players at a junk yard near you for about 50 to 70 bucks

it is about an hour to 2 hour job. you have to take the center console out and obviously the old tape drive and put in the cd player.

it is very similar to putting a cd in a computer it is plug and play just screws.

you can lay down on the drivers side and reach up to unplug the tape player from the head unit and plug the cd player in the back of the head unit.

I did it on mine and was really glad I did it cd's sound so much better.

so all you have to do is remove the center consoles and replace the tape unit with the cd player and plug it into where the tape drive plugged into on the radio unit and put it back together and you are good to go.

took me longer cause I cleaned everything while I had the console apart. so I took my time. but go for it you won't regret it.

yes it is plug and play you can plug it in where the tape deck plugged into the radio

as far as prices I am sure you can find one within your price range.
