Clutch Wear Question
Hey guys,
I guess I'm sort of paranoid about wearing out my clutch, so I was wondering about something. If I am taking off from a standstill, and I rev it up to about 1500-2000 RPM, then let out the clutch smootly. Would this be considered being "hard" on the clutch? Also, alot of people I know let the clutch out first to where it engages,THEN gives it the gas. Is either method alright, or does one provide less clutch wear than the other?
Thanks Guys!

RE: Clutch Wear Question
As long as you start fast and smooth, it'sOK. If you hesitate releasing the clutch and keep it slipping, you wear it down regardless of rpms. More with high rpms, but main factor is slipping, not rpms. If clutch is not slipping, it is not wearing. From the clutch wear point of view you want just to drop it - this way you get minimal slippage. But, then you have to deal with broken clutch and tranny parts pretty soon. Hence the compromise…
