i was given a f23 accord engine and i have a 95 civic eg, i was planning on putting that engine in but it didnt come with a tranny i was wondering what tranny should i i buy to use with this engine. I dont plan on dropping in a turbo this is just to get my baby running again, cause i was stolen and they took the engine and tranny and messed up my interior, but i wanna rebuild it and get it running better than what i had i had a d16 which was ok. thanks for any help

 

You'll need an F-series tranny. Look for one from the same body style as the Accord that came out of. 98-02 Accord. Is it an F23a1 or F23a5? One has vtec, one doesn't.

(it may not matter which tranny you get though)

You're probably up for a lot of fabrication to get that engine to fit. It's bigger and heavier than what usually goes in a Civic. You have suspension to worry about as well as axles, mounts, shift linkage, etc.

 

its an f23a1 the vtec version. but what other tranny could i get that would be better than the original one that it comes with. i am not putting this engine to race or anything so do you still think i have to change the suspension. thanks for your help

 

I dont know if I've EVER seen an f-swap done in a civic. Other than an f20. If you do it you should call it the F-bomb project.

 

that cool i like that the F-Bomb Project. but what tranny do u think i should use like i said i wanna use something better than the original one that it came with this is all im waiting for so i can swap the engine.
