Driving stick is not hard. I learned how to ride a manual bike in 1 hour.

No, i am not talking about 10 speed huffys. They don't have a clutch (i have a huffy mountain bike). Anyway, you need the clutch to upshift as well. Well actually, i never tried going into a higher gear w/o the clutch.

I've driven stick shifts for years & enjoy the heel out of them. My experience has indicated autos have a shorter life span than sticks. City driving can be a pain though, but hills are no big deal. When my daughter was learning to drive I made her learn to drive a stick before she took her test. I didn't care if she ever owned a car with a stick, I just wanted her to know how. If I had my way I'd teach it in driver's ed, but that's just me.

There is a reason why they don't teach stick in driver's ed. First of all, a vast majority of cars on the road (in the rest of the world its opposite) are auto and most people will never have to drive stick so its like a waste of time. Second, some people are such terrible drivers and can't manage the driving part much less the trans part.

I find I'm a better driver when I drive stick as it tends to keep me from day dreaming.
