Default CV Joint Issue

Hello all,

about 5000 miles ago I changed my CV joints and while doing some other work I noticed a buildup of grease on the firewall that circles the CV joints meaning they are slinging grease out of them. Is their a way to inject new grease into them to keep them from wearing out? Or for that matter is it even a problem?

Thanks,

MC

I have seen some boots "leak" immediately only because of too much grease was packed in. However, I have been told that once the excess is gone, I shouldn't have any problems. You can re-boot the axle, but it is a messy job. I think re-boot kits cost about $30.

I think I need to clean off the grease first and see if any more appears, its also the first time I've been under the car since I did it so it might be the extra coming out

After cleaning, you can use zip-tie next the the steel band. I did mine and no problem since.
