D15b Vtec transmission compatability...
okay, so I don't really know Where this question is supposed to go as far as threads are concerned, but I do have a slight issue.
I have a 90 Civic Hatch with a JDM d15b Vtec, and I'm assuming that my transmission is going out(since whenever I shift it grinds). I first off need to know if the transmission is actually going out, but then also I'm kinda curious to know if there's another transmission thats compatable with the engine I have or if I just need to have the same one. If you need any more info, I can try to give it. Thanks.

Probably the syncros.
Any SOHC D-series tranny will fit (make sure you get cable tranny if your car has cable clutch, or hydraulic tranny if your car has hydraulic clutch--if you have a clutch fluid reservoir it's hydraulic)
But really, you have pretty much the best D-series transmission there is out there, and it might have an LSD in it too.
I think the best option would be to just rebuild the tranny you have.

yeah, it is a cable clutch (that I know of). and I guess the guy I traded the car from said it was the Si tranny.
Do you know a ballpark figure of how much a rebuild would cost?
I'll post up pictures of the car too cause I know some people wanted to see it. Not the greatest thing in the world, but definitely a fun car to drive.
