It's a Honda, **** isn't prone to failing on a Honda motor... that is as long as the motor has all it's normal maintenance.

D16z6 is the engine code, It's a D series (SOHC vtec) that is a 1.6L 4 cylinder. z6 is just the specific designation.

it is the second best SOHC motor. it is lightweight, powerful, efficient, and responds to mods well. if its got to be SOHC, then thats a good one to have. the only one really any better is the d16y8. it has slightly better head chamber design, but its not a big deal. if you can find a y8 head, you could put it on your motor and it would be great.

Also, the d16y8 is obd2 compared to the z6 being obd1. and the y8 produces 2 more hp and 1 more ft lb, not that that makes any difference at all.

Cheers guys, understand a bit better now.
So the engine is a good one, responds well to mods, its a OBD1 so any mods i see for a OBD1 series then i can do to mine.....I was reading info about ECU upgrades and it referred to OBD1 type ecu chips, so i can do stuff to my ecu with the OBD1 spec....?

Many thanks

No way Z6 is best sohc you can get in the Ds. Been proved. So says the y8 has cpl more horse doesnt mean its above. The best route between the 2 is puttin the y8 intake maifold onto the z6
