so whati shouldnt turbo it? i mean i know im not gonna get the 480hp out of the turbo d17 that i can get out of the k20 but im not ready to drop in the k20 because im not gonna drive the k20 everyday cuz i dont want to beat it up or risk someone hiting me head on destroying my $13,000 motor... so yeah, the d17 might suck ifi was gonna do nothing but drag the 1/4 mile, but im not. im gonna be driveing it everyday to school and work, my gf might even drive it when im feeling nice, but dont come on here and just tell me my motor sucks, i didnt post the question asking if it sucked or not, i asked to get help building a dependable, and strong d17. so thanx to those who have helped,and screw those who dont... THE D17A2 DOES NOT SUCK, IF U THINK IT SUCKS, YOU SUCK!... i know that was childish, but they pissed me off, sorry...

 

^But its a D17!!!! We all know the D 17 is the redheaded step child of the D series engines, and the weakest honda engines are the d series engines, so quite frankly the D17 is the WORST Honda engine ever made! Come on!!! Even when it comes to displacement.........D15>D17... D17FTL!!!!!!!!!!!!1

 

Now now children fight nice. If the kid wants to build his D17 let him. Yes we know you don't like our engines, great, fantastic! You know it's not always about power. Hell I'll be happy to make a few people scratch their heads going what? a D17? No way!

Just because you don't like the engine (and yes it is the hardest engine to mod) doesn't mean we can't/shouldn't do what we please with it.

^I agree 100%, but the fact of the matter is.....if hes really looking to make that much power and is on a budget, a swap would be cheaper.

money aint a problem, im just tryin to get the most performance out of the d17 while im driveing it every day. soon i will b makeing even more money, so i will b doin the k20 swap, but as for now, its not practical. i dont need a 480hp civic to drive everyday...

 

well i think if you got the money, rebuild the D internals with some really high quality parts, spend some money on a banging turbo kit/tune and you wont be far behind on your hp goals.

 

Thats exactly what i was planning to do on my d16. i was gonna forge all the internals and upgrade to a stage 2 clutch from the stock one it has.
